….Don’t quarrel with nature, she knows what she’s doing….

It is no coincidence that I chose my quote for this post.
Look how sunny and warm it is on the first day of March. I want to believe that this weather will remain and help nature come to life and bloom.
In nature, everything is natural. After the cold comes warmth, after flowering the fruits ripen, after the harvest, nature sheds its leaves and asks to give peace and rest to the trees before the cold. Prepare for death naked. Winter comes and the trees meet it naked, ready for renewal. Winter passes, heat for plants, the state of renewal comes with the first warm days of spring. And so this cycle repeats every year.

We also experience these cycles if we listen to nature. If not, and we are blind and deaf, then we lose a lot in the wrong cycle of life.
And you need to feel this cycle. You need to feel that after the strong, heavy magnetic elemental days of February, the gentle, cat-like days of March come. Even if it’s one day longer this February, then March 1st came and the weather changed completely.
Just yesterday evening, at sunset, I managed to notice the unusualness of the clouds on the horizon. They were curly, small, bluish-gray multiple clouds, densely standing in several lines on the horizon, like a flock of lambs on a soft pink background. The combination of these colors was unusual. Such a sunset too unusual.
“It will probably still be cold tomorrow,” I thought.
And only when I woke up today from the rays of the sun that appeared in my eastern window, I realized that, as always, spring has come. And it has come firmly, showing us that March will be warm.
Well.
Let it be .

So much hope for renewal, for blossoming and warmth.

May March bring more love and understanding.

We will clean our houses, put our gardens, lawns, and vegetable gardens in order to plant a good harvest.
And I will start a bunch of new projects that attract me.
One of them, but it’s more of a continuation than a beginning. It opened yesterday. It’s friendly to me

ROOTS which was open on the last day of February in Cloverdale Mall,Etobicoke.

I wish success to all the participants in this exhibition. I am pleased to see both familiar and completely new artists among them. And regarding their creations, I am a fan..
I just always like painting, which feels free, like the creation of images that are inherent to the master without any pressures or restrictions, with characteristic experiments and departures from traditions. With their inherent brightness and contrast. That’s how it was now.
The exhibition will be held FEBRUARY 29-APRIL 11,2024 in partnership with QuardReal and present the 5th show of ROOTS’exhibition series.

This year-long exhibition celebrates the rich cultural diversity of Toronto.Ita fifth edition will feature eight incredible African Artists in celebration of Black History Month.

I hasten to meet you again, my readers.

The year flew by quickly and intensely, and now it’s December. Last month of the year. As always, let’s sum up the history of plans for the next year.

Summing up the results of the year, I confess that the year had everything – losses, failures, new trials, rest and travel, and of course awards.

Of the losses associated with this terrible year, these are the losses of people close to me. I was left without my mother, and although she died after a long illness, but I miss her so much. I left my parents very early and began to live on my own. Therefore, my parents were a place for me to hurry back to, like in childhood. However, everything changes. The loss of loved ones is always painful.

The war that is now on the territory of my country also affects. At the beginning, I couldn’t get used to it, I suffered from insomnia, called my friends a lot, tried to help, volunteer. Later I tried to create conditions when my real help would be useful. But you can’t get used to the war and I, like many people, dream that the war ends.

I spent three months of spring in the international project “Children War Ukraine”. This is an online project that connected children and is aimed at developing their abilities and desire for creativity. I created videos for poems written by children. The project helped popularize the creativity of Ukrainian children.

In the spring, a significant event was the organization of the performance “Mazeppa” at the Zahrava Theater in Toronto. I am glad that the theatre, despite many difficulties, has released a performance and I am doubly glad that several strong participants have been added to its group. I wish them further growth and success in their difficult work.

Throughout the year I drew a lot and this could not but affect my work.
As quarantine restrictions eased and galleries began to open, I became a participant of many with great enthusiasm.

From the latest news related to galleries, I am participating in the exhibition, which will be held from December 6 to December 24 2022 at Cloverdale Mall Etobicoke Ontario.This is an exhibition of works that have passed the competitive selection of the jury of Art Etobicoke. It is a pleasure for me to present two works there, which are very dear to me. I publish them here with a little descriptions about:

I exhibited as the best work of this year my painting POPPIES, created in the spring of 2022 and dedicated to all the soldiers who died in the war. This is the grief of mothers, this is the pain of wives and children, this is the groan of the land on which the war is going on. The picture was created in memory of the dead soldiers, whose names will remain in our memory.

The second painting presented at the exhibition is a painting MY DREAM created in 2017 and this is my calling card.This painting from her creation and during gallery life, the painting has an interesting history.
For the first time it was exhibited at an online gallery in the UK. Six months later, I stopped working with the gallery and the painting moved online to France, to an online gallery(she is lucky, she moved without problems and payment in the Internet space).

The painting was created very quickly ,like it was drawn by itself. I don’t remember exactly, but the idea came instantly: a couple of strokes, oil sketches, then quickly quickly and by nightfall it was almost created. After drying I just tweaked the shadows a little. It felt like she wanted to be created by me. This happens with artists. Going back to 2017, like this 2022, it was very creative year and a lot of paintings were created.

Having got to the selection of the jury, the picture had to be framed and organized for the exhibition. And here is the story again. I looked for many frames, but none of them matched the color or size. Already tired of searching and giving up ready-made frames, I decided to order at the store, but it was closed there. I returned to the search for ready-made ones and an hour before submitting paintings to the exhibition. I found a frame that not only displayed the depth of the picture in golden color, but also decorated it and added value to it. The picture came to life. This is a real miracle.

Describing the last awards of the year, I want to note another victory in the selection of banners by the jury for the city of Pickering. This painting is especially dear to me, as it is a symbol of the unity of Ukrainian and Canadian art.
In this picture, which I specially created for this competition, the element of water is in its design.

The city of Pickering is located on the coast of Ontario and has a nuclear power plant. It depends on the element of water. Water is a symbol of the life of this city. Therefore, it is depicted in the center of the painting.

Envelops its flowers, painted in the Petrykivka style.

In the style that I paint, continuing the old Ukrainian traditions. And it is so well combined. It was noticed by the jury and selected for a banner.

Now my work in the coming year will hang on the main street of the city and decorate and delight.

Exhibition in Neilson Park Creative Centre

Today I was invited to the exhibition in Neilson Park Creative Centre by my friend Barbara Urbanchyk.

It is a joint exhibition of several artists in which she participates.
I admire her work, her tenderness.
She is a very delicate artist and very tender.
I leave this film here as a memory of this day

I really love everything what is connected with art and I am very friendly with artists.

I understand how difficult it is for an artist to create some art.
It’s even harder to present it at exhibitions.
Huge work is being done before the exhibition.
Starting from picture frames and ending with invitation cards.
The artist’s success is very fragile.
It happens that a lot has been done, but people come just to see.
We are faced with the problem of integrating art into the Internet.

Now more often began to show painting of artists on the Internet.
Exhibitions often remained as part of the artist’s performance, but sales at exhibitions decreased significantly.

Huge halls and art galleys also suffer.
Artists are looking for any way to advertise themselves.
A very difficult time for creative people.
But I hope that the transfer of our work to the Internet galleries will help us acquaint with art lovers and connoisseurs around the world

We played humorous plays when there was a snow cyclone outside.
We were afraid that people would not come.

Many people have come.
It was a very warm and cheerful event.
Snow piled up,ice paved roads.
Return to home you could just dress up your skates and go))
And this is in the middle of April ))
The weather in Toronto just pampers us….

After the performance there will be a break in the work of the theater.
But I have a very tight schedule.
I am preparing for the re-sale of paintings in the folk style and I represent my artwork on the seminar of Toronto teachers.For them I prepared invitation cards, which I show you

This is a list of acrylic paints on paper with a folklore style.
About how the paintings are created, I’ll talk today.
Folklore style is very popular in every country.
We are, in Ukraine, have the most famous as Petrykivka painting.
These are drawings with elements of flowers and birds.
I made a lot of paintings in this style, and now I am preparing for the exhibition, where I will show a mix of folklore with a Petrykivka in a slightly humorous style.

When I start working, I create an image.
For example, it will be flowers. When the shape of the flowers is defined, I put a basic color from the colors in a small sketch with a pencil.
After applying the flowers, I paint the corners of the picture, observing a small sequence-below the flowers should be large, at the top-small. They twist the branches.
The shapes of the flowers are not necessary. They are repeated. They can be different.
The branches are covered with leaves and also larger from below, above-small. Their curvature repeats the direction of the flowers.

The picture is obtained as a carpet, colored and mottled.

I show on the example of this picture how the images are distributed. The flowers twist the bird, but do not touch it
The bird seems to float, but this is only at the beginning of the painting.
In the final part around the bird will be denser flowers and they will fit tightly to the bird.
The color of the picture is collected from the combined colors. Classically, it’s two colors.And…… that’s ……all.
Now …in modern style use more colors, which gives the painting a motley.

After creating an image and drawing it, let it dry and cover by varnish.
So you can draw on all wooden covers, on paper, on cardboard, on canvas.
I use canvas and oil paints.
Another one my favorite subject is the creation of a huge variegated folklore canvas painting.
I will show today a recently finished job.

I created it for the last exhibition .
But this pfinting is very beautiful, fashionable and modern looks in our interior.
It is harmonious both with the classical style, and it is included in the vanguard decision.
I think this is a good decision)

If I had the opportunity, I would describe in this style the walls, furniture, clothes and decorate the premises.
When you create paintings in this style, you can not stop. I want to do a new and new painting.
The work itself is very exciting.

My submission for Alefba Juried Art Exhibition was approve and my artwork has been selected.

I invite everyone who adores art and want to visit this festival of culture and enjoy the atmosphere.
This year the exhibition is devoted to caligraphy.
I already wrote in the previous post …….
I liked to work in this direction. It’s an amazing feeling when you create something that gives the painting with double meaning-name (caligraphy) and an image.
I studied the Arabic language. Now I just remembered him and drawing, saw in the bends-sense.
I will present several pictures at the exhibition.
I will tell you about each of them today.

The first is a ,,Cat,,

It was slowly being created.

I drew it using a mixed relief technique.

Covered her with oil paint.

A light tone gave a very large volume. I did not see the point in it and painting was lying for two years.

When I sorted through the paintings that I keep in a certain place, I saw this work, I touched it. I really like her relief. But then I put it back, because it did not fit the topic where I was working in at that time.
That continued until I was invited to participate in the exhibition.
I opened the files with all the photos of my works. Again this picture interested me. I took it out. Moved fron side to side. I looked.

I had an idea, in the waves that were in the picture, to put a blue thin lazy cat))
It took several minutes. I changed the background from pink to bluish. When the painting was finished and I photographed it, I was already confident that ,,Cat,, would get to the exhibition.
I even wrote about this in the previous post (see below)
This was confirmed by the jury, taking the painting to the exhibition.
So my blue lazy cat went for a walk around Toronto))

Another interesting story occurred with a triple-scale work.

This work is more of a decorative nature.

It’s also about two years old.

The same embossed stucture technology.
I made it from three different sized canvasses. In the central canvas, an oval framed by a relief.
Side panels as crescents mirror the central image.

Here I worked more on toning the relief.

In the end, I highlighted some curves. They showed up very nicely.
The painting also stood for a long time, it, like the previous one, dried up and gave its basic color.
When I looked at it, I saw on it the Arabian caligraphy. I finished it just recently and prepared it for the exhibition. In the end, I covered it with varnish for safety and preventing discoloration and contour.

I will take part there and show my works. This is also a sale.
