Have you ever thought about what gives you the most pleasure?
Everyone has their own thing. Some enjoy the taste of the first sip of coffee in their morning cup, some love to travel and give themselves pleasure in discovering a new city or park, and some, like me, see pleasure in grains.
It’s wonderful when in the cold, snowy winter time you plant a grain in a pot and watch how, from the sunny day and warmth, a simple little plant begins to appear under a bush of a house flower – first two tails and then either a beautiful flower, or a bush of a tomato or cucumber.
I always enjoy this moment. I love to ruin my manicure and dig in the ground to transplant this beautiful grain into a fertilized pot, water it and watch it grow every day.
A secret hour of meditation for me and the flower.
I have noticed before that if you leave it unattended for a week, the consequences can be different, but more often negative.
Therefore, every day, regardless of the weather, rain or shine, a morning greeting to this little grain. His parting words for life. encouragement and care.

Today I will tell you about the most viewed and beloved painting of those put up for sale on the site today www.saatchiart.com/helenpolishuk

This painting is called “Church” and was created by me in 2019.
It is on canvas, acrylic and covered with varnish from changes under the influence of light.
My signature is at the bottom right.
The painting is dear to me, like everything I create.
It is a composite image of churches, to which we go for purification and renewal, where we find consolation and love.
If we recall my favorite green city Kyiv, then the image of the church is St. Andrew’s, which stands at the top of the rise of St. Andrew’s descent, which connects Podil with the city center.
But the most dear to me is St. Sophia’s Church, which is the Mother of all churches in Kyiv and includes value, greatness and our heritage.
As a Christian, reminders and symbols of the church are dear for me. Christians honor the scriptures and think about Peace, Faith and Love.
This painting is part of a collection of urban paintings that I have been creating throughout my career.
If we take my early work, which dates back to the 90s, there is a picture painted in black and white, repeating the graphics in oil paints.

In those distant years, in my youth, it was painful and bitter for me to watch how our churches in many places were destroyed and forgotten. That picture – the roof of the church is tilted, plants are growing on it, the building is destroyed and only the cross reminds of the significance of this building.
The picture is in the collection in my home.
Today, time has passed and I am pleased to see the changes. My eye is pleased that young people honor the traditions of their ancestors, that our churches are rich in parishioners during the hours of celebrating holidays, they honor traditions and rituals.
I am glad that my picture today is recognized among the entire collection by the greatest number of views and likes.
It is very touching for me that my work is in a modern rhythm and is popular.
I want to remind you of an important event.

For the third time, Art Etobiko is hosting a juried exhibition on New Year’s Eve that celebrates the multiculturalism and richness of our Toronto artist community.
This year’s exhibition ran from November 21 to December 21,2024.
Cloverdale Mall,The East Mall,Etobicoke,Ontario

The exhibition presents works by many artists from all over the world who work in Toronto. And this is what distinguishes our exhibition, that it is always multifaceted, rich and bright.
Present the works both in decorative, and illustrations and paintings of artists. There was stand with knitting – knitting techniques were shown. It is wonderful to see the revival of ancient art. The works of artists from India especially stood out.

My works were presented by two plates, painting in the Petrikivka style.
This is the second exhibition where I present my works. Last year there were paintings – Petrikivka. This year my collection was replenished with painting on wood.
All works are unique, these are author’s works. There is a signature on each of the plates.Size:14″x14″x 1″
One plate is created on a black background. This is a wood base plate.

The second work is an autumn composition, created on an oval plastic tray.Size: 14″x11″x1″.
Both works were selected by the jury of the competition and exhibited for visitors to the exhibition. The exhibition was a great success. Many guests from Toronto creative groups attended the opening exhibition on November 21,2024.
I am posting a video where you can see the exhibition visually.
This is how this artistically rich year passed.
And how did it begin?

Do you remember? This work on paper and the first work – painting on wood. It seems to me that it was so long ago. So many events have passed during this time. So many interesting events and exhibitions, sales and gallery expositions.
Taking this opportunity, I congratulate everyone on the upcoming New Year, I wish you success and good luck
