St.George’s-on-the-Hill

I often pass by this church. St.George’s-on-the-Hill.This is my neighborhood, this is the history of my city.
Only today for the first time I was able to look into  and get to know her history closer.

St.Georgeos on the hill (1)

This church stands high on the mountain (hence the name) and is distinguished by a high spire and very unusual architecture.
In 1844 land was given by William Gamble, owner of the grist mill on the banks of the Humber River.

Toronto have a lot interesting architectural buildings, including the unique buildings of churches.
St.Geogre’s-on-the-Hill church built by William Tyrell in 1844 with large windows and  spire with tin sides.
In 1847 the RT.Rev’d John Strachan,Bishop of Toronto, dedicated the building on October 17.
St.Georgeos on the hill (6)
In 1865 Bishop Strachan dedicated the baptismal font, which is St.George’s oldest memorial.
Over the back wall of the entrance door a tapestry with the image of St. George .
The church is named  him.
St.Georgeos on the hill (7)
It depicts St. George, who kills the dragon.Very unusual image that I see for the first time.
Next to it is a small painting that shows how the church was originally
St.Georgeos on the hill (8)

The church was very small  and later was expanded, rebuilt and added side walls.
It is a small but very unique church by stained glass windows.

At the entrance on the left and on the right, beautiful stained glass windows tell about the life of Jesus.

Connecting connectable

Connecting connectable (6)

My favorite month  May changes to summer month June….
How fast time is running.
I do not have time for  …  creation….
This is probably quite natural for creative people
Now it is especially pleasant for me to be conscious of it, and it is especially hard for everything that I create to join together.
Connecting the connectable — you already feel in my post that I have a writer’s mood today.

Yes ,you are not mistaken.
For more than a month now, I continue to work in a team of beautiful two men, creating a  script for film that takes place during World War II.
I can not describe you much now, it’s still under work.
I can only say that I am very pleased to work in such a company.
I get great pleasure from work.
In parallel, I take courses screenwriter.
That’s just to give them a lot of time I can’t.
Connecting connectable (2)
A lot of visual  details I have to decide now in the process of creating a movie script.
I will not explain  you that this visual work is more than artistic.
But they are very dependent one on another.
 Connecting connectable (3)

It is like a dance. I take a step and stop.
I turn my torso and hold so as not to fall….

Five scripts have already gathered in my archive .For me it’s not enough.
But I have to combine this pleasant work with a no less pleasant second my work.
You know that I am a great artist and of course you expect news from the arts from me.

I was invited to participate in the exhibition, which will be held in the summer.
I refused.
I do not agree to invest in a losing product.
Before offering myself to the galleries of Prague and Vienna, I arrived there and walked around some of the most expensive galleries.
I came there at the height of the day, when there are many tourists.
But I did not find visitors.
Modernity has changed a lot. Internet and social networks killed commercial painting.
Artists moved to virtual networks and they can (like me) find, view their work, buy them through their personal sites.
Our dating is now also virtual.

Exhibiting in ordinary galleries is difficult, since a lot of finances are spent on preparation.
I refused, but they persuaded me and even took several of my paintings.
And here I had to combine both of my works.
It, believe mt, very difficult.
If with one i’m doing it like dancing, then with the second everything looks like childbirth, I give birth.
This picture clearly shows this process.
Connecting connectable (4)
Giving birth to an idea and putting it on canvas.
In the following posts I will tell you about the exhibition.
Now I just emphasize, as I said at the beginning of the post:

Story of one flight

Good day to all
Story of one flight

I miss being a blogger behind my site
I was silent for more than a month without access to my website. I accumulated emotions, thought about his perfection, met, met and consulted bloggers
I thank everyone who, despite my silence, almost every day comes to the blog
I thank for your interest.

I will tell a very interesting story that happened to me at the Borispol airport in Kiev this March
When planning a trip to Kiev, I bought a very large and light bag from the Chinese in China Town in Toronto to place the clothes and things I needed.
This is a black long cloth bag with wheels at the back and with a handle in the front. It is convenient to carry what I needed. But uncomfortable, it falls from the load. At the airport I wrapped it in plastic and it flew away with me.

When I arrived at Boryspil, I was very tired of the road. When the baggage was unloaded, I saw a bag, a black one, a wheels on the back, and a front handle.
Thinking that it was mine, I took her with difficulty (23 kg) to my parents. This is a two hour trip from Kiev. Without suspecting anything, I carried this bag with things in polyethylene by bus in the luggage compartment.
Finnally, when I brought her to my parents, lifted her upstairs to the second floor, how letters and calls started to me.
Ha-ha-ha-ha….
And now I am grateful that they went through my website and the site’s mail, through my social media
The airport administrator was looking for me, because I didn’t take my luggage.
She called me and informed.
I lured bags and took someone else’s, the same bag
Ha-ha-ha-ha
Storyof one flight
 What was then?
I wanted to take a break from the road, but I was busy during evening bringing the bags back to the owners.
I thanked them and apologized for the mistake.
And the next day……. Attempt number two.Ha-ha-ha….
I again went to the airport, took my luggage and brought back heavy 23 kg (ridiculously, that with the same driver) to my parents.

This story is interesting that very quickly people was found me  through my site (my work with the theater) and even found my husband. They sent a letter to him.
Well, now I am calm that I am correctly blogging.
You never know what else can happen in life.
I love to travel
But just the luggage is always at least a little ribbon should be noted ….for dest rest after travelling…..ha-ha-ha…
Now I do it

The HORRORS

polishukelena___BuTtfDwn_HQ___(1)

It was a year ago.
At this time……
I received by  email letter from Amanda.
We worked with her in crew on the film ,,THE EGG,, which has not yet been made.
Amanda invited me to work with her as a Production Manager on her  movie ,,Horror ,,

the horrors (4)

I flew by plane to Kiev and doubted that I would be in time.
Then I told her that I was going to Kiev and talk closer to the shooting month.
Already being in Kiev, Amanda again writes to me that she wants me to be Production Manager in the shooting time of the film, which will be in July.
I agreed, but asked the script to read.
She sent the script, I read, I liked it.
I agreed, but said that I would come the day before the shooting.
She was glad.
So we started making a film called Horror
I flew in without unpacking my suitcases, I just got ready for the shooting day, looked through the locations, asked about my position and my responsibilities.

the horrors (7)

I remember the first day of shooting.
the horrors (3)

It was location on GO station. We got together, met. I knew from the previous project of the director and producer.
It was necessary to make up the actors. We found a small quiet comfortable place on the street, near the station.
Directly in the fresh air, in front of the passengers coming to the station, we were the makeup assistant, who made up atristas.
the horrors
We are cinema people…. Everything goes like this for us.
the horrors (2)

Then we had to shoot the scene inside the train.

the horrors (6)

And we saved money and considered who would go and who would not.
Calculated. That me and the producer, we should not ride. We waited for them to return. And they were late, because they did not consider what time the train was back.
We waited for the group, bought them sandwiches.

It was a cool day then. We waited for the actor to the next scene and waited for the whole group from the previous location.
The group came hungry and were very happy break and sandwiches.

In general, all four days passed like a dance.
the horrors (5)
the horrors (8)
We were friendly, despite the debates and setbacks.
the horrors (9)
the horrors (11)
the horrors (12)
the horrors (13)
the horrors (10)

We suffered everything and finished everything.
And now I can proudly boast – Amanda has completed the movie.
The film is taken on a Toronto  Shorts International Film Festivale
And  March 4th we invite everyone to watch our movie

About clouds

ser_obl1
It may come in, like my previous small essays in some of my books……
But today I just share my soul with you.
We say writers have special souls, sensitive and insightful
We say that writers, like artists, are weird, flaky and odd…..
Today, I do not argue
 I’m talking about clouds today…..
……when I was small, I believed in fairy tales.
And I loved that my grandmother to tell them to me.
From fairy tales, I learned three things:

-first: that  could be a happy ending………..

-the second:  that there may not be a happy ending………

-the third: that when someone die, their souls leave the body.…….

Just go out  the body and all.
And the body is buried or burned.
Now I’m not a little girl anymore.
But it remains in me.
…….when I lived as an adult woman in the Middle East, in Jordan, the terrain there is mountainous….
……In seasons….in rainy storms, my husband( a doctor) returning after a night duty, often said that they could not save a serious sick patient. The patient was died.
And I looked at the window, saw how heavy, spherical gray, dark clouds lay over the city.
These big watery clouds seemed to collect the souls of dead people.
They collected and slowly crawled into the mountains.
And so it was in the days of changing seasons, in early spring and late autumn.
It repeated every season
……Clouds floated low over the city and collected the souls of the dead seriously ill……
I live in Toronto now.
There are no such clouds.
The clouds here are far from the earth
ser_obl1
Very far from us…..very very far…….
I continue to believe that the souls of the dead come out of their bodies before death.
But in Toronto I am afraid the night, which takes souls.
Nights here are evil, dark, scary and merciless
The night that takes the souls of seriously ill patients

I’m sorry I’m in that mood today
I told you that we, writers + artist, are weird.
Today, one sweet, bright, kind soul went into the night……..

Petrykivka in my work

Today I will talk to you about just one topic.
Petrykivka painting……my Petrykivka paintings.
I have been engaged in this kind of folklore painting during 20 years.
This is my business card to the world of art. I started the first paintings in Petrykivka style more than 20 years ago and still painting.
petrykivka in my work
This is my paintings in Petrykivka style
Petrykivka painting is one of the oldest types of folk painting in Ukraine.
It originates from the village of Petrikovka, Dnipropetrovsk region,Ukraine.
Separate items remained with this style of painting since the 18th century.
However, in modern style, it was formed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The origin of the Petrykivka painting is associated with Cossacks and the settlement of the Dnipropetrovsk region by people from Poltava, Slobozhanshchina and Podolia.
Samples of painting in this style became popular by D. Yakornitsky and E.Evenbach. They developed in the form of wall painting (,, Malevka ,,) for interior decoration.
They were painted on folk tools, chests, sleighs, seeders. Drawing products in this style finished by varnishing, overglaze and underglaze porcelain painting, glass painting, painting leather wallets. Also, patterns were taken for embroidery blouses and towels.
Now Petrykivka painting was formed as an independent type of decorative graphics and widely spread throughout the world as an  original separate art school.
Petrykivka style of painting is characterized by a floral ornament that continues the traditions of Ukrainian Baroque.
It uses a variety of colors and compositions with various materials and techniques
Can be made with watercolor, oil, gouache, acrylic, tempera with homemade brushes (made from  cat wool) or fingers, pipette, reed sticks on a light, black or colored background.
In January 2013, Petrykovka style painting was brought to the intangible cultural heritage of Ukraine by order of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.
On December 5, 2013, the Petrykinka painting was included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (UNESCO)
I bring my little piece in continuation of this style of painting.

My paintings in this Petrykivka style can be found on this website by opening the main page, then at the top center in the middle open CURRENT WORK and open in the middle UKRAINIAN
petrykivka_in my work
Here I publish a collage of my last works in this Petrykivka style.
I must confess that the paintings began to turn out tender.
Perhaps this is my attitude and love for this kind of art.
I often publish new works on Facebook on my page https://www.facebook.com/helenpolishukart
You can always subscribe and will be in the subject.
If you have any questions, please write, I will answer with pleasure

2019 Year of Pig

Very unimproved this 2019 year.
Started with big changes on all my fronts what I liked.
I  quickly do a lot  of work, especially in art spectrum.
I had to give up unnecessary art programs, in which I am included.
I refused from unnecessary exhibitions, where I come to participate.
I concentrated on this  my personal site and expanded into a range of sales of paintings within Canada.
I must say, I do not waiting very high sales results.
Canadian art  sales market is uninteresting and predicted.
Sales are very slow and the artist has large losses from them.

year of pig (2)

I’ll tell you what happened immediately after the publication of my painting on the local sales network.
I published a painting showing a photo here.
This 5 x 7 my original work is made with oil on the canvas.
I showed this work before the February holidays of St. Valentine. I published that the buyers bought it as a gift to the collection.
The price I set the minimum, just for my 45 dollars.
I posted.
And this painting was arrested. The site’s customs. Two days were considered and thought what to do with it. As a result, they decided not to let it go for sale and asked me to remove it from sale.
This painting is published on my personal website. Here, in the section of my work, you can find it.And open for sale.
I’m sorry, that’s the way it turns out.
But we, artists, are mistaken for strange people…… although I don’t see anything strange in this.
So….I can do more perspective just in my personal website www.helenpolishuk.com
I want to show you, my readers, how I perceive the world.
and do not limit myself in the peculiarities of society.

Happy Chinese new year 2019 card with pig. Vector illustration.

I wish my Chinese friends a Happy New Year
Year of the Pig
And I wish wealth, love and prosperity.

year of pig (3)
Very strange …. I congratulate the Chinese people around me (or those born in China) inToronto with  New Year …
And in response, I hear:
-We do not celebrate. These are Chinese traditions. Our parents celebrate just……

Our advanced country and people living in it
I would like to hear this from the Europeans, too……..

Best wishes
Helen

First changes in 2019

As it should have been, we entered the new  2019 year. Year of the pig. And that means that we are waiting for a lot of changes, dirty tricks, a lot of work and all sorts of good news.
First changes in 2019 (6)

About this all I want to tell you, my readers.
And now all news …
First , the site I have been working with for 2+ years is  www.artfinder.com/helen-polishuk#
First changes in 2019 (5)
It is English site.Best English website for artists.
I am very accustomed to it. It is family-owned, limited, simple, but rather conservative in terms of attitude both to artists and to the evaluation of our works.
The site is changed this year.
It’s about payments, but more about screening out artists.
New working conditions with him are introduced.
The artists were divided into three categories, the first one is free, but at least 30 paintings are on sale and 40% goes to the site from the sale of the painting.
The second – 33% goes to the site, also a limit of up to 50 paintings and $ 5 per month payment. A third of 33% of the price of the picture goes to the site, no limit for exhibiting paintings and $ 15 per month.
I do not know why, the site blocked the use of Paypal, which made it difficult for me to sell the paintings since last fall. I was out  of  Canada to regulate the banking process. In general, all this concerns tax changes. Because there are strict changes.

I continue to work with this site. I limit the display of my paintings there, but I will develop and develop myself in other places.
So, I improve this my site. Now you can buy pictures from here.
First changes in 2019
There is a page on Facebook if you find.
www.facebook.com/helenpolishukart.
There are coupons to buy paintings from this site at a discount.(my secret)  🙂
And if  you write to me at email: contact @ helenpolishuk.com   and we will agree on the sale, how to shipping, how to pay, I will gladly give you more discount. 🙂
The main thing is to discuss all the details.
I created two sites on the FB.
www.facebook.com/helenpolishukart
And
www.facebook.com/CanadaPetrykivka
1First changes in 2019
They are completely different. One about art, the second about Ukrainian art.
Both sites are working and will talk about art, news and small announcements about ongoing events
I am expanding the sale in my surroundings and my paitings are leaving me.
First changes in 2019 (2)
I expand the sale in my environment and my pictures go away.
So, this week I’m breaking up with these beautiful paintings .
Let her new owners be warm and pleasant to look at them at home.

Collection of winter paintings by Helen Polishuk

The beginning of the new 2019 year inspired me to write about my paintings about winter.

collection of winter paintings by Helen Polishuk (4)

You will immediately think that I love this topic. I live in Canada, where there is a lot of winter, more than 6 month in year.
And I manage to draw winter. I often received prizes and exhibited my works at exhibitions or published them in publications.
But I will disappoint you, this is one of my directions, but not the most beloved. I am very good drawing the winter.
Now those traditions of drawing, with which I started ,a little outdated.
This is still the traditional East European school, the old Russian traditions
collection of winter paintings by Helen Polishuk (3)
Over the years I began to move away from the primary methods of drawing.
You will be able to see how my equipment has changed on the example of the exposed photos in this post.
I am not an adherent of one theme and one style, one picture.
I always want a new one. It is in my life I am fidget.
collection of winter paintings by Helen Polishuk
Proposed for your viewing paintings, this is a small part of my work.
I don’t have many of them for a long time. They are in collections all over the world.

The paintings of my works below are still relevant.
They are on sale in websites along with other paintings:

Already living in Canada,I created  intresting collection of small paintings devoted to winter.
This is a lively collection filled with originality.
There are many things that show that I live in Canada. These are the buildings of houses and the landscape of nature.
I set up here to draw small pictures.
I will not say that it is special. I liked it.
Many critics say that on the contrary, it is harder to paint small paintings than big ones.
I will argue. It is easy for me to draw small paintings.
collection of winter paintings by Helen Polishuk (8)

That’s just sometimes you have to repeat to remove the layer of paint, shade white.
Therefore, the painting is not created in one month, and sometimes it takes about a year to finish it. This is the process of highlighting more  places in the painting.
Using this painting as an example, I show how applying a bleached layer several times gives a glow to the picture.
It is like nourished with small bright lights.
Very impressive!!!!!
collection of winter paintings by Helen Polishuk (5)
The range of shades is wide, although the winter landscape is monotonous.
This is not true in my collection.
collection of winter paintings by Helen Polishuk (9)
I continue to look to my direction. And the rest of my work only complements what was said

I am glad to work for you and ask, look more often at my sites, read my posts, like and forward.
Everything I do, I create for you, my dear friends…..

When the year ends, much ends with it

As one blogger said-fuck write  about the results of the your year in your blog for readers . They don’t read anybody from reading.
Many people, they absolutely do not know what they write about themselves and what happened to the ordinary writer. It’s not interesting to them.
So,my dear readers, I just expose the pictures and comment them.
I do not agree on one thing with that blogger.
There are moments of reloading in life.
Someone does this regularly, regardless of the time. Someone does to tie it with holidays or dates.
I do it regularly with out dates.
Therefore, it is not painful and not important for me.

The  2019 year of the pig is about to come.

when the year ends, much ends with it (5)

It is still locked up,
still  closed, but ready to enter in our society.
 Dear Santa Claus!
when the year ends, much ends with it (6)

I ask you to send me energy to overcome all difficulties, I ask you to take care of my relatives and help my friends.
I ask you mood, joy and good luck for all my friends, for you, my dear readers.
Miracles happen if you believe in them.
Wishes come true if you make them
My beloved city Toronto plunged into an  series of holidays.

City is empty during this time, as many have gone on a journey.
City is prettier now, as many have decorated their homes festively.
when the year ends, much ends with it (4)
I made a film about beautiful home decorations in Toronto. As in New York, it is a tradition to decorate houses with luminous garlands, to put snowman or Mickey Mouse  behind home, to decorate trees growing near the house.
when the year ends, much ends with it (8)
The weather was pleasantly congratulated  us on holidays, giving  a white, clean, light snow.It is snowing…….
when the year ends, much ends with it (7)
I continue to work out in the gym, which gives me good results for losing weight, improving muscle tone, energy and improving well-being.
I wish you:Let changes in your life take place only in a good way, and may your health be strong
when the year ends, much ends with it (3)
I fly in the New  2019 year in my own strength and cheerfulness.
There are many dreams ahead that I am going to accomplish.
Forgive me that a lot of people  what I left in the past and closed these pages.
Without such pain, it is not possible to rise.
I’m still with you and in you
when the year ends, much ends with it
I love you,my dear readers.
I plan many many new meetings with you both on the pages of my blog and on the TV screen, in life, in art galleries.
Let luck accompany you
